There’s been a lot of rainy days recently! And apparently tomorrow, we are supposed to get snow? Or rain? Or sleet? Or all of the above? It will probably be that in-between type of precipitation that I have to drive through, and that’s the kind of weather I loathe the most. If it’s going to snow (again), can it just dump a blizzard on us (again) so that we can have snow days and stay in our pjs and watch bad TV all day? Again?
I’ll sieze the moment and tell you all what I like to do on rainy days.

On rainy days, I like to curl up with a good book. My favorite author Jodi Picoult just released her new book, The Storyteller, which I am downloading onto my Nook tonight. I haven’t had much time lately to read leisurely, and despite the fact that I’m a month away from the show I’m directing, I will make time for this one.

On rainy days, I like doing crossword puzzles. I could work through a book of crossword puzzles for at least an hour, without stopping. This is also my favorite activity while on a plane or train. I like listening to music too, but I feel like I need to keep my hands and brain occupied or else I’ll be consumed with boredom.

On rainy days, I like to doodle random things like this, with tons of colors and shapes. This is actually the way I concentrate, and always have. I used to doodle these swirls in the margins of my notes in AP calculus class, then on to college and grad school. I think I may have picked this up from my Mom who would doodle very similar things while on the phone when I was a little kid. Also, my handwriting now looks like hers. Weird!

On rainy days, I like to break out old video games and pretend it’s 1995 again. Honestly, there’s nothing better than old school video games like Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, etc. I’d always rather play on a retro Game Boy console than anything current or new. Maybe that’s just me.

On rainy days, I like to continue to pretend that I’m a kid and eat dinners like mac n cheese in Arthur shapes. (This is literally what I ate for dinner tonight.) Boyfriend is staying at work late, and sometimes I rally and cook an elaborate dinner for myself, but tonight, after a long day, all I wanted was this.

And it was totally delicious slash worth it.
Reader Question: What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?

Ooh I love crossword puzzles! And I can’t wait to get the new Jodi Picoult book
Your macaroni is making my mouth water.
Hehe…my mouth is watering just thinking about it 12 hours later…..
I want this macaroni and cheese! My favorite way to spend a rainy day is baking and checking out what is on On Demand. A little Snooki & J Woww. Boy Meets World.
Haha Snooki & JWoww + Boy Meets World is the weirdest combo ever…but ohso good.
We don’t get too many rainy days here, so I take full advantage of any and all that we do get. And I do a lot of the same things as you! Reading, for sure (I didn’t know Jodi Picoult had a new book.. have to find it now!). Comfort foods aka little kid food. We just got a Mario Bros. game for Wii that we’ve been hitting up on rainy days. I like to watch movies and seasons of TV shows on rainy days, too. Ooh, and a couple months ago I convinced the boy to build a blanket fort with me and hang out in there for a couple hours. Love rainy days!
Blanket fort!!! I love that idea. Totally doing it the next time we are stuck inside.
Reading on a rainy day is THEE best! And I love Jodi Picoult. I cried like a baby during My Sister’s Keeper.
I had Annie’s mac n cheese last week…with a grilled cheese on the side. haha Good source of calcium…right?
Grilled cheese + mac’n'cheese = yes please.
Also, I looove My Sisters Keeper…the book, that is. I’m still livid over the movie’s ending. Gahh!
On rainy days I like to drink hot chocoalte and sometimes I even brave the rain and go for a walk or bike ride! I also like to open my windows just a bit because I love the sound
Totally with you on the sound! I love the sound of rain.
Annie’s mac & cheese is my FAV!! I really need to make some because it has been forever since I have eaten it
